March of Dimes
6501 Veterans Parkway, Suite
Columbus, GA 31909
Working with our partners, the March of Dimes strives to develop and implement local programs that will ultimately improve the health of babies. Through our network of chapters and volunteers, these programs reach over a million people across the country and Puerto Rico each year. We provide information and services designed to prevent premature birth and birth defects and to promote healthy pregnancies.
Our local office also is a hub of fundraising activities throughout the year that promote and support various local programs. Volunteers are always needed to produce successful campaigns.
Various duties are required dependent upon time and function of volunteer work. Volunteers are needed for various office duties including mail stuffers, filing, faxing, copying, work on computer with multiple Microsoft programs. Additional duties are at public functions and fundraisers. Throughout the year we have events where we will need help with marketing, set up, and preparing for the event. Some of the calendar of events include: every October we have the Signature Chef Auction; November is Prematurity Awareness Month, Global Prematurity Day, and the Night Walk at Callaway Gardens; and April is the annual March For Babies. We are striving to get youth excited about making a difference. You will serve as an ambassador for schools around the community in helping with fundraisers and providing materials on a weekly basis. A future hope is for youth to be able to formulate a Collegiate Council on the Columbus State University campus.
Dress will be based on event or office work that the volunteer will be utilized. If office work is required, please dress professionally in order to meet public. Business Casual is fine. If you are placed to volunteer at an event, appropriate event attire is requested.
