The United Way Volunteer Center's mission is to link individuals with flexible opportunities for service through programs, projects and partnerships. We are primarily a web-based system serving as a central source for volunteer opportunities. In addition to volunteer projects and special events that we create and manage, the Volunteer Center partners with more than 80 local organizations to assist them with recruiting volunteers. We serve as a 'one-stop shop" for volunteers, listing projects and opportunities that benefit children, families, homeless individuals, seniors, literacy, health, animals, the military, arts & culture, and more. We produce a monthly e-newsletter to keep members informed of upcoming volunteer opportunities.
There are many different ways to become involved. The job description depends on your specific project. You could help with the United Way Youth Council, re-painting a Born Learning Trail, and so much more.
The requirements vary depending on the project.
Hours vary by project, but it is generally business hours (8:30 am - 5:00 pm)
